even makes it harder due to the fact that we don ’ t have that many players to lead , or just that many players in general , but Connor , Chandler and Brenden are all three good leaders ,” Rushing said .

Rather than getting on their teammates for making a mistake , the players have picked their teammates up and encouraged them for the next play .

“ I don ’ t think that we are going to have a problem with ‘ metype ’ players ,” Rushing said .

Right now , it is too early for the expectations to be placed on a team that has so few players , but Rushing knows he ’ s got good athletes perfectly capable of winning .

“ We have done well on our

6-on-6 — of course we aren ’ t suited up for those — but the other team may have 15 players while we only have seven players ,” he said . “ That makes it difficult , but right now with the good athletes that we have , we think we will be good , but are hopefully getting more players .”

The No . 1 goal for CCS early on is to win . No . 2 ? Improve as a team in non-district while getting acclimated with its offensive and defensive formations .

“ I just tell them that if they get to a game where we have to win it to make the playoffs , then that becomes a different story ,” Rushing said . “ It doesn ’ t just happen over night , it takes time . We think that with the kids that we have , we are going to be good .” ★
