FIREWIRE Magazine Winter 2019: Celebrating 5 Years | Page 52

INCIDENTS Post-incident reviews take many forms, including after-action reviews conducted on scene, kitch- en table jaw-fests days later (always the source of the most accurate info!) and articles such as these, which can offer both perspective and detail after the dust has settled. So this section offers selections that recall some of the biggest events we’ve faced, including detailed reports on 2015’s North Fire as well as its unwel- come sequel, 2016’s Blue Cut Incident. Both of these stories are written by chief officers from San Ber- nardino County Fire who found themselves leading our efforts in some of the most devastating fire behavior our region has seen. In addition, we look back on Medic Engine 2 and its harrowing fall from a vanishing swath of Interstate 15, as well as a review of a memorable fatal traffic collision on Highway 138. The fact that each of these incidents occurred in the Cajon Pass reminds us the severity of this target hazard, to which we are often the first to respond. 52 FIREWIRE • Five Year Anniversary Winter 2019 • FIREWIRE 53
