Holding true to our service motto “Duty, Honor, Community” FEATURES D o you wonder what your County Firefighters are doing when they aren’t responding to fires, rescues or medical emergencies? On a daily basis somewhere in our county we are educating the public in the communities we serve on proper fire safe practices. S an Bernardino County Fire enjoys the times when we can interact with our citizens on a non-emergency level or after the emergency has been mitigated. Neighborhoods across the nation host block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and other various community events with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, visits from emergency personnel and exhibits. These opportunities hold a special place in our hearts. 34 FIREWIRE • Five Year Anniversary I f you look closely at any fire engine or other vehicle proudly displaying the San Bernardino logo, you’ll also see the phrase “DUTY, HONOR, COMMUNITY…” This motto reflects our commitment to be personally responsive to the people we serve, beyond responding to emergencies. Shown in these photos are examples of the men and women of County Fire honoring that commitment, from school education programs to many other community events. Winter 2019 • FIREWIRE 35
