Currently discussions center around two career personnel with the addition of a third in the future. • Likewise, negotiations continue with the San Manuel Band, with plans to outline operational expectations, command/control issues and use of hand crews. • San Bernardino’s mayoral campaign is under way, with candidates Danny Tillman, Rick Avila, Gigi Hanna, Carey Davis, Carmel Rowe and John Valdivia. Members of the Local 935 executive board attended a debate but have not yet made an endorsement. • First ward city council candidate Theodore Sanchez has received 935’s endorsement. Having earned a well-earned promotion to battalion chief, Capt Jack Dejong removes his gear from the engine one last time before starting his new assignment. • Station 224 completed a partial remodel, including ceiling asbestos removal, and Station 226 recently received its kitchen update. Meanwhile, 232 is undergoing a major remodel, which should be nearing completion as this edition of FIREWIRE goes to press.
