• The vacant Local 935 Vice President position has been
decided, with Captain Nathan Lopez winning election—
good luck to Nate and thank you for stepping up!
• We are currently negotiating with San Bernardino
International Airport regarding staffing Station
233 with ARFF services and personnel. Currently
discussions center around two career personnel with
the addition of a third in the future.
• Likewise, negotiations continue with the San Manuel
Band, with plans to outline operational expectations,
command/control issues and use of hand crews.
• San Bernardino’s mayoral campaign is under way, with
candidates Danny Tillman, Rick Avila, Gigi Hanna, Carey
Davis, Carmel Rowe and John Valdivia. Members of the
Local 935 executive board attended a debate but have
not yet made an endorsement.
• First ward city council candidate Theodore Sanchez has
received 935’s endorsement.

• Station 224 completed a partial remodel, including
ceiling asbestos removal, and Station 226 recently
received its kitchen update. Meanwhile, 232 is
undergoing a major remodel, which should be nearing
completion as this edition of FIREWIRE goes to press.
Many thanks to those members who worked on these
projects, pitching in at busy stations and helping save
the county thousands.
• Station security continues to be a top prio rity of both
management and labor.
