MIKE MURPHY
Captain Mike Murphy has been assigned at Station 72 in Fontana for several years . A USAR team member , Mike began his fire service career ( way back !) as an explorer with Montclair Fire . He then hired on as a Cal-Fire seasonal and later spent one year at Norco Fire before coming aboard with SBCoFD 20 years ago . Mike does extra duty as part of the CARE team , is a member of the Type III incident management team and — perhaps most visibly to many of us — serves as the fire association treasurer . An avid fisherman and backcountry backpacker , when not tying flies and catching trout Mike resides in Menifee with wife Leigh Frasier .
NIMA HOMAYOUIEH
Newly promoted to engineer , Upland Fire native Nima is assigned to Station 221 “ Central ” in San Bernardino . A paramedic for 14 years , during his time at Upland he was also a flight medic with Reach Air Medical Services . In addition , he is truck certified . Nima earned a bachelor ’ s degree in business management from Pepperdine , and serves on Local 935 ’ s newly-formed contract negotiations committee . He also helps lead the fire explorer post chapters in both Upland and San Bernardino . He and wife Courtney raise boys Kaden , 7 , and Kamden , 5 ; they reside in Aliso Viejo .
JASON SERRANO
Captain Serrano is another of the Central station legion at 221 in San Bernardino . He was with the city fire department for 19 years prior to the 2016 transition . A paramedic for the past 22 years , Jason has a long list of extra-curricular involvements since coming over . For starters , he is truck certified and has been involved with the truck operations cadre , helping revise and develop our truck operations task book . He is also on the high rise operations cadre , and most recently , he has been on the cadre presenting modern fire behavior training . He also helps with the Tower ’ s Fire Control 3 class , and as if that weren ’ t enough , he is the Uniform Committee chair . A high desert native , Jason worked at Victor Valley ’ s fire academy from 2000-16 . He is married to Verenice with two daughters , ages 12 and 7 . They currently live in Orange County .
Tim currently is assigned as a firefighter at Station 73 in Fontana . He started his career with County Fire in 2013 as a limited term employee before eventually hiring on to a fulltime position . An EMT for the past 11 years , he is Hazmat certified and is also active in County Fire ’ s honor guard . Tim and wife Delilah just tied the knot late last year ; they make their home in Palm Springs .

CRAIG LYNDE
Craig is the second member in this issue of Faces assigned to Fontana Station 72 . A veteran of 16 years with County Fire , he was hired initially to the limited term ranks in 2002 before earning a fulltime spot as a firefighter / paramedic three years later . He has been a paramedic for 14 years , and is a USAR team member . Many of us know Craig for all the hard work he does as the lead coordinator in Division 1 for the department ’ s annual Spark of Love toy drive . He also helped initiate and manages the Breast Cancer Awareness Month t-shirt program for SBCoFD . Craig and wife Lynsey reside in Yucaipa with children Josh , 17 , Natalee , 12 and Paige , 2 .
TIM SMITH
Tim is a captain at Station 232 in San Bernardino , coming over to SBCoFD during the 2016 transition after 21 years with the city fire department . He has held his paramedic license for nearly three full decades , and spent time on the box with the now-gone ( but not forgotten ) Courtesy Ambulance . He also worked as a reserve deputy for the sheriff ’ s department between 1993-2015 , serving the cities of Highland and Yucaipa . Tim currently makes his home in Yucaipa ; he has a 25 year-old son , Corey , and a 23 yearold daughter , Allie .
