Within less than two days, the Blue Cut Fire had consumed over 30,000 acres and eventually claimed over 100 structures, including the Summit Inn, a historic Route 66 diner which opened in 1952. Despite the fire’s intensity, and despite an evacuation order that affected over 80,000 residents, there were no reports of civilian injuries.
