Such a facility has been a topic of discussion for quite some time; ultimately, the rationale behind having a union hall was supported by a multitude of factors. The largest was that as an organization we needed a place to hold political events, monthly meetings, and to have a place for our membership to call home. Prior to the hall we were having the majority of our meetings at a local restaurant, which was not conducive to our growing organization. The union hall building now provides the opportunity to house our membership for general, executive board and ratification meetings. The 3,000 square foot space includes an executive board room, treasurer’s office and a large general meeting room. The rear garage portion of the building will eventually feature a barbeque and provide storage for political event signage. Over the past six months the space has slowly been outfitted with a new coat of paint, office furniture and audiovisual equipment. Local 935 will continue to invest in the hall, with goals to hold special events for our membership and to house an onsite 935 general store. We hope in the near future to have a grand opening event so that everyone can come down and see the hall. Captain Gary Jager is first vice president of Local 935.
