EMS is not a service that begins
with the transport of a victim to an
emergency care facility; instead,
it begins with a 9-1-1 call and the
dispatch of highly skilled and trained
emergency medical personnel
from San Bernardino County Fire
Department who provide basic
and advanced levels of care.
S
an Bernardino County Fire prides itself
on being your local fire department. We
recognize that we are a large Department
and serve a very large area. Our size allows for a
depth of resources that benefit even our smallest
communities. Accountability to and participation
in the cities and communities that we serve is part
of the culture of our organization. We work hard to
bring a local sensitivity to each and every call for
service. On average, 88 percent of emergency calls
for service are medical in nature. San Bernardino
County Fire Department is an Advanced Life Support
provider in the majority of its service areas. We are the
ambulance transport provider in multiple areas of the
county. In fact, we are the second largest provider of
ambulance service in the County. Our aim each day is
to provide the utmost in quality service to the members
of the community we serve, while continually striving to
raise the standard of EMS service delivery.

San Bernardino County Fire Paramedics are tested and
trained in every capacity of their job. Our Paramedics
are not only on ambulances, but also staffs Fire Engines,
USAR units, HAZMAT units, brush patrols, squads, and
even helicopters with well known ALS providers. We
are the leaders in emergency medical service in the
largest County in the lower 48 states. San Bernardino
County Fire Department Paramedics are unique in their
experience and heritage. Local communities contract
service with the County allowing years of local experience
to be disseminated amongst the members of a much larger
team. That community now benefits from paramedics
with a more broad range of experience. We are an adept
group who humbly pay respect to the foundation built in
the PAST, steadfastly take pride in the quality of our service
in the PRESENT, and find inspiration in what exists in our
paramedic service FUTURE.
