Children’ s charity wants fundraising support from Virgin Money London Marathon runners
Caudwell Children, the national charity that provides practical and emotional support to disabled children and their families, is appealing to runners who have secured a place in the 2016 Virgin Money London Marathon, to run on its behalf.
Recently applicants were informed if they had been successful in the public ballot and Caudwell Children are keen to secure the support of those running in the 2016 event.
The charity says that its unrivalled pre and post-race support are a real benefit to runners, helping them perform to their maximum ability.
As Kirsten Greaves, Challenge Events Coordinator at Caudwell Children, explained:“ Running for Caudwell Children will really enhance your experience. You will enjoy a pre-race pasta party, an after race reception which includes a muscle rehabilitation massage, a stylish Caudwell Children running vest, a comprehensive training plan and dedicated support from one of our fundraising team.
“ And whilst we’ ll provide you with a Fundraising Pack, runners won’ t be given a target so there will be no additional pressure during training or the Marathon itself!”
Running in the Virgin Money London Marathon will give participants a great sense of achievement says Kirsten. However, she believes that by raising money for Caudwell Children the day will be even more memorable. She said:“ For many this is a once in a lifetime opportunity! Runners are desperate to fulfil their ambition of taking part in one of the greatest sporting events on the planet.
“ However, the additional charitable element of helping us to raise much needed funds to deliver therapies, treatments, equipment and fully supported holidays to disabled children, makes the achievement even more compelling.”
For those who have been unsuccessful in the public ballot Caudwell Children has a limited number of Gold Bond places available through its charity ballot.
Kirsten says this is a fantastic opportunity as places are highly sought after. As she explained:“ This year there were a staggering 247,069 applications for approximately 35,000 places in the London Marathon.
“ Obviously, once the public ballot has been drawn there are a lot of disappointed people without a place. So contact us now if you want to enter our ballot and be in with a chance of running in, arguably, the greatest marathon in the world!”
