bustible liquids may flow from the organic coating manufacturing
operation so as to constitute a fire hazard to properties of others,
drainage facilities shall be provided in accordance with the following:
a. Drainage facilities shall be provided to direct flammable and
combustible liquid leakage and fire protection water to a safe
location away from the building.
b. Emergency drainage systems containing flammable and combus-
tible liquids connected to public sewers or discharging into public
waterways shall be equipped with traps or separator tanks.
c. Emergency drainage systems for leaks of flammable or
combustible liquids and for fire protection system discharge shall
be provided and shall have curbs, scuppers, or special drainage
systems to control the spillage and spread of fire. The containment
area shall have a capacity not less than that of the largest tank
that can drain into it.
B. Process Piping
1. All piping, valves and fittings shall be designed for the working
pressures and structural stresses to which they may be subjected. They
shall be of steel or other material approved for the service intended.
Cast-iron valves, fittings, and pipe shall not be used.
2. Valves shall be of an indicating type. Terminal valves on remote
pumping system shall be of the "dead-man" type, which will shut off
both the pump and the flow of solvent.
3. Piping systems shall be substantially supported and protected against
physical damage. Piping shall be pitched to avoid unintentional
trapping of liquids, or suitable drains shall be provided.
4. Approved flexible connectors shall be installed where vibration exists
or where frequent movement is necessary. Approved hose shall be
used at dispensing stations.
5. Before being placed in service, all piping shall be hydrostatically
tested to not less than one and a half (1 ½) times the expected
working pressure or thirty five kilo Pascal (35 kpa) at the highest point in
the system for a minimum of thirty minutes (30 min) to determine that
the piping is free of leaks.
C. Electrical Equipment
1. All electrical wiring and equipment within storage or processing areas
shall be installed to be reasonably safe to persons and property in
accordance with the Philippine Electrical Code and other
