What we do .

ESTIMATING
From portal frames to multi storey office blocks , with combined experience of over 70 years in the construction industry , our estimating department offers a reliable and trusted service to main contractors around the UK .
We promote early engagement and offer costing advice and value engineering to assist main contractors at tender stage and throughout the procurement process . Coupled with programme , buildability and sequencing advice , this ensures that our customers ’ needs are met and that the price we provide is competitive and correct .
Depending on client requirements , we can provide rates , budget costing advice , or a full estimating service .
In addition to our steelwork , we can also offer pricing for the following :
• Metal Decking
• Pre Cast Concrete Flooring
• Pre Cast Concrete Stairs and Lift Shafts
• Temporary or Sacrificial Edge Protection
DESIGN & DETAILING
Our Design team can offer the complete service to the construction industry , from individual connections on consultant led projects to full design of the most complex structures on a ‘ design and build ’ basis .
We offer ‘ value engineering ’ through the close guidance of our Chartered Engineers at the concept of the project and with the assistance of the latest computer software for 2D and 3D building information modelling ( BIM ), analysis and design . Being able to offer advice on material choices , fabrication , fire protection , surface treatment and erection techniques which can often lead to significant project savings and efficiencies .
PRODUCTION / STEEL FABRICATION
On an 8-acre site , our 90,000 sq . ft production facility can produce in excess of 12,000 tonnes per year and includes Hi-Tech CNC equipment from Voortman , Kaltenbach and FICEP , but our greatest asset is our highly skilled , dedicated and motivated workforce who receive ongoing training .
The journey starts with the fully automated Voortman V320 . This machine is state of the art with carbide drilling and 400amp plasma cutting . It can process plate sheets up to 6m long x 2m wide , with thickness from 6mm to 75mm , without manual intervention . Running alongside this is the FICEP Tipo D8 which punches and crops standard flat bars
Our Kaltenbach KBS 1016 with 3 axis drilling completes the next process . This machine can cut and drill sections weighing over 500kg per metre and can process beams 20 metres in length . A lift and carry system is then used to transfer the steelwork though the integrated shotblaster . Steelwork is typically cleaned to Swedish standard SA2.5 , although other standards are available to suit specific project specifications
When all components are prepared for assembly , dedicated line loaders distribute the components to bogies on lines 1 or 2 , both 160 metres long . Steelwork is then carried through each process on the allocated bogie , plating , checking , welding and finally into our paint hall for surface coatings to be applied . We have a further , separate fabrication line for more complex fabrication work . This area is also the area where we utilise our Elotop 3010 stud welding machine , which is capable of welding 50 studs per minute . Inspection follows each process , 100 % dimensional checking , 100 % visual welding inspection along with MPI and UT as required depending upon project specifications .
