LEARN iT! The first legal hurdle has, as of this writing, already been cleared; the Frederick Public Art Commission approved the project in December 2015. The Frederick Historic Preservation Commission are scheduled to review the plans in mid-January, and pending its approval, the project will secure a building permit from the city. Instead of suggesting decay, the block will suggest life. Alas, even if approved and constructed, the project will not last forever. Much like the former buildings on Market Street, now represented only by their façades, this public art installation will one day be taken down and removed. But whatever time it remains will surely serve the public in a far greater manner than the boarded-up remnants that have stood there for so long.
