I was on a mission: to unleash more than 20 years of pent-up diva in one evening.
When I petitioned Luigi Crespo, the photographer at Capitol Bombshell, he was
more than happy to oblige. You see, Luigi is a full-time boudoir, glamour and pin-
up portrait photographer, and he knows there is only one cure for Prima Donna
Fever: a full-fledged photoshoot complete with glamorous Grace Kelly makeup,
gorgeous pin curls, thigh-high stockings and the highest heels I’ve ever worn.
In the past couple of years, I’ve undergone a slew of personal and professional changes that have
both boosted and shattered my confidence. I changed careers, got engaged and lost 100 pounds—
all of which changed how I saw myself. As I thought about my transformation into a boudoir butterfly,
I also thought of how these changes would look in front of all of Frederick. Needless to say, I saw
this as an opportunity to change my perspective on myself and embrace the changes in my life to
become the diva I always wanted to be.
Capitol Bombshell’s sessions actually start with emails back and forth. From the time you book your
session, they are in contact with you about what ideas you have in regards to poses, outfits and
backdrops for your photos. I had a few vague ideas and Luigi took it from there, he told me what to
bring and directed me to the website for everything else.
When I arrived at the studio, I was way more nervous than I thought I would be. Everyone who knows
me knows that I do NOT shy away from a camera lense; my extensive modeling portfolio includes
goofy faces next to giant pizza slices and awkward poses with signs. However, I’ve never had
professional photos taken, other than my engagement photos last summer; the idea of having, as
Luigi would say, “sensual” photos taken made me a little anxious.
