Cooperation and Development—Celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the Government Loan Cooperation between the People’s Republic of China and the State of Israel The Radio and Television Station Wireless Digital TV Coverage Engineering Project of Bayingolin Mongol Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Project Name: Wireless Digital TV Coverage Engineering Project of the Radio and Television Station in Bayingolin Mongol Autonomous Prefecture in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Execution time: September 2005-December 2009 Loan amount: USD 5.5 million Construction content: The construction of 1 wireless digital TV transmitter room and 1 Signal transmitting tower. Achievements: 1. Enabling TV signal converted from analog signal to digital signal in advance. According to the development planning of the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television, analog TV signal emission and transmitting would not be applied anymore in the country since 2015. However, this project enables application of digital TV signal converted from the analog signal in advance in Bazhou area. 2. Significantly expanding the scope of coverage capacity and popularity of television. The project adopts six frequencies to transmit dozens of channels of digital television programs and eight channels of radio programs. The signal transmission covers about 100 kilometers, undertakes signal emission and transmission of CCTV, Xinjiang Television Station and several local and satellite TV channels (including minority language channels) and , serves a population of nearly 1 million people in Kuerle, Yuli County, surrounding towns and farms and 4 northern counties (Hejing County, Bohu County, Yanqi County and Heshuo County). 3. Solving the difficult problem of watching TV programs in minority areas and remote areas. The project enables people in agricultural and pastoral areas in 4 northern counties in Bayingolin Mongol Autonomous Prefecture to watch television much more easily, thus facilitating the voices and images of the outside world spreading to thousands of households at once, enabled people of all ethnic groups are ab le to enjoy more convenient and efficient wireless digital TV services, enriching the spiritual and cultural life of people from all ethnic groups in the prefecture. 83
