Jiuquan City People's Hospital Project

As the only Grade-3 Class A hospital in Jiuquan City, Jiuquan People’s Hospital, provides medical treatment,
teaching, scientific research, emergency services, prevention and health care and has been providing medical
treatment and health care services for more than 1 million residents in the whole city. In recent years, with
the rapid economic development of the city and an ever-growing need for medical services by local residents,
the hospital’s existing medical equipment was no longer able to satisfy the demand and the problem of
inadequate medical services for farmers became more and more prominent.
In May 2012 the Project was approved by MOF to utilize the Israeli Government Loan of USD 5.25
million in order to purchase medical equipments including 128-slice (256-layer) CT, 3.0T MRI, etc. All the
equipments had been delivered and put into operation between April 2014 and February 2015.
With the operation of the advanced equipments, the medical conditions have improved and the scientific
research and medical treatment levels have significantly increased. The outpatient volume was 454,215
person-time in 2015, 69,399 person-time more than that in 2012 a total increase of 18%; the inpatient volume
is 36,433 person-time, 10,955 person-time more than that in 2012, a total increase of 43%; 41,104 persontime were examined by CT and MRI in 2015 with a 13,794 person-time (equivalent to 50%) increase; 45
scientific research projects were approved, 15 projects more than that in 2012, an increase of 50%; the
successful rescue rate for critical patients has increased to 81.1%; clinical cure rate has increased to 96.8%;
discharge diagnosis accordance rate has increased to 99.1%; the number of patients transferred to other
areas for medical treatment has decreased by 40%, which alleviated the financial burden of the patients.
The implementation of the Project has helped the hospital gain both social and economic benefits and is
acclaimed and praised by the patients.
