Pingxiang People’s Hospital Project
of Jiangxi Province
Founded in 1928, Pingxiang People’s Hospital is the first public hospital established by the municipal
government, as well as the only Grade-3 class-A hospital in Pingxiang. C urrently, it cooperates with The
Southern Medical University and Gannan Medical College. Pingxiang People’s Hospital, in which Pingxiang
Ophthalmic Hospital, Pingxiang Oncology Hospital, Pingxiang Stomatological Hospital and Pingxiang
Emergency Rescue Center are located, is the center of medical services, scientific research, teaching,
prevention, and rehabilitation treatment in the Pingxiang area. The hospital covers an area of 354 MU, with a
total asset of more than RMB 1.5 billion; the building area is of 189000 square meters and the health park of
600000 square meters. There are 1300 beds, 42 ward areas, 61 clinical majors and 14 technological majors in
the hospital.
Pingxiang People’s Hospital purchased 26 sets of equipment under the project utilizing an Israeli Government
Loan of USD 12,579,569 (equivalent to about RMB 80,000,000). Saving about RMB 10,000,000 compared
with utilizing a domestic bank loan.
By the end of March, 2016, some equipment under the contract had been installed including one CT, one
DSA, one double-DR, two sets of mobile X-ray, eight sets of Color Doppler, one Electronic Gastrointestinal
Endoscope and one NMR. These medical equipments have been operating regularly. The project is
completed by the end of June, 2016.
The project has enhanced the safety level of operations and diagnosis in the hospital, improved the medical
treatment efficiency, and the overall medical services. With the operation of the equipment purchased
under the contract, a year on year increase of 16.1%, 10%, and 21.9% of person-time respectively in terms
of gastroscopy, ultrasound and nuclear magnetic resonance have bee achieved. In order to provide a safe
working environment for such high-end medical equipment as the NMR and the Medical Linear Accelerator,
the hospital has built a special room for such equipment and has also made sure the employees are trained
for the standardized operation of such equipment. Therefore, more and more patients from outside Pingxiang
area have been inclined to get medical services in the hospital. The project guarantees a sustainable
development for Pingxiang People’s Hospital.
