Prior to receiving the database from DOSM, a list of establishments within the professional
services sector was compiled from association directories, online directories (e.g. Yellow
Pages) and other online sources (e.g. Google search). Most of the establishments compiled are
from the legal and accounting industry as the association directories provide contact details of
the target establishments. The 3,475 compiled establishments are made up of 35% legal firms,
28% accounting firms, 12% architectural firms, 5% engineering firms and the remainder is
made up of the rest of professional services. The survey was launched on 2nd May 2018 and
sent the survey invitation to 3,475 establishments. The survey was conducted via online
questionnaire and telephone.
On the 21 st May 2018, DOSM provided the database for Industry M (Professional Services
Activities) from MSIC code 69 to 75 with 14,637 samples. The following table shows the
breakdown of samples by its respective industry within the Professional Services Activities.
