Example 2 Advertising agencies such as DDB in Singapore are working with IHL to groom next-generation talent. DDB’s COE in Temasek Polytechnic, “Equator”, trains 20 students per semester across faculties through academic programmes and hands-on experience with client projects, working together with DDB’s senior leadership team. Example 3 Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM) has signed MoUs with IHLs to increase the membership of engineering students in IEM, as well benefitting the staff and lecturers of the engineering faculties of the IHLs. • • IHLs enjoy a financial incentive of 30% from the total membership fees collected from the students for the purpose of the Student Chapter to fund its activities on campus. Students and graduates are given the opportunity to attend IEM’s activities which would enhance their professional development in terms of their engineering career. Students are able to enjoy the activities organised by IEM including courses, seminars, talks and visits which are generally technical in nature to enhance and complement the theoretical knowledge provided by the IHLs. Encourage IHLs to frequently update their existing curriculum and course syllabus to incorporate latest industry trends and competencies • Initiative 3.7 • A Working Committee should be formed to IHLs, discuss about the changing skills needs in the Industry industry and ensure courses are highly relevant.
