Strathbogie is more rapid than in past decades , while other sites appear to be more stable now than in the past . All new and existing sites should have historical erosion assessments conducted to help inform the targeting of gully rehabilitation and maximise the downstream water quality benefits . This should be undertaken at Mt Pleasant and Havilah stations .
● There is a need to link some of the water quality data collected from these gully sites to coincident data collected in the adjacent streams , rivers , and marine system . This may help identify additional hot-spot areas within the Burdekin regions and understand the consequences of sediment transfer between gullies and downstream receiving waters . A proposal to undertake this work has been developed to support the link between water quality data collected at different scales with the catchment models .

Small-scale gully remediation sites

An important part of the design for the Landscape Remediation Activity Area is the inclusion of a suite of small-scale gully remediation sites that have the dual benefit of demonstration of a range of gully treatments on different gully types and landscapes , and landholder engagement . In total , 14 projects ( with some involving multiple gully projects ) have been completed with landholders within the BBB catchment . In terms of the process for selecting projects , once a landholder identified a gully they were interested in remediating , it was inspected by NQ Dry Tropics who commenced an open dialogue with the landholders about what solutions they considered to be possible . A range of specialists were engaged , depending on the size and extent of the gully , to provide a remediation approach . Specialists involved in the project included Alluvium , Verterra , Neilly Group , Fruition , Bob Shepherd ( DAF ) and John Day .
