vehicle, when its whole purpose is to protect the vehicle? Who doesn’t want to protect their vehicle? Well the simple answer is the initial cost. It’s not cheap. Having said that, it’s totally worth each and every dollar. One might ask how many dollars are we talking about here? Well… let’s break down the process and the cost of applying a professional grade ceramic coating. Let’s see what’s involved in the entire process. STEP 1: Vehicle detail preparation (includes interior though not discussed). Associated cost: $400 Before a vehicle can be ceramic coated there is a long list of processes that must be completed prior to the application of the coating. This can be a “con” as there is a fair amount of work and thus time involved to prepare a vehicle for a ceramic coating. As we know time is money. There is no way to avoid this process. If this part of the process is skipped the completed results will generally be poor. The following 1 – 10 steps need to be completed before the coating can be applied to any surface: 1. Pre-wash (remove all heavy dirt and/or mud) 2. Iron decontamination solution applied (This step will extract iron deposits from the body surface as well as the wheels… really anything the solution is sprayed onto. Metal deposits can come from the brakes, road debris and so on) 3. Active agent cleaner solution is applied next (This step helps to loosen and remove environmental fallout) 4. Degreasing foam pre-wash (without letting this solution dry, you soak the vehicle to help dilute (thus deactivate) the iron decon and active solutions currently on the paint. This step will also loosen and remove any grease) 5. Foam bath (to help pull the dirt and environmental fall out off the paint, creating a layer of soap and solution) 6. Thoroughly wash the vehicle 7. Second foam bath (heavy soap solution for the next step)
