Eva Ollikainen
Eva Ollikainen studied at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki with Leif Segerstam and Jorma Panula and won the Jorma Panula Conducting Competition at the age of 21 . In recent seasons , she has conducted renowned orchestras and opera houses around the world . Her highlights include engagements at the Semperoper Dresden , Det Kongelige Teater in Copenhagen , the Göteborgs Operan , the Kungliga Operan in Stockholm , and the Finnish National Opera . In the symphonic field , she has worked with the Los Angeles Philharmonic , the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra , the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra , the Norwegian Radio Orchestra , the BBC Philharmonic , and the SWR Symphony Orchestra , among others . Her special interest in contemporary music is reflected in her close artistic partnership with the Icelandic composer Anna Thorvaldsdottir . In 2023 , the CD ARCHORA / AIŌN was released , for which she recorded two of her works with the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra . In addition to her concert activities , Eva Ollikainen is involved in the training of young musicians . She regularly teaches at the Sibelius Academy and leads masterclasses at international institutions such as the Peabody Institute and the Royal Danish Academy of Music . In 2021 , she founded the Conducting Academy of the Iceland Symphony to support young conductors .
