LATE RANCH
Late Ranch describes postwar dwellings that kept the main Ranch form but began to transition into late 1960s and 1970s vernacular houses with minor facade changes such as entry gables . These houses still share much of the same form and materials with earlier ranch houses , but lack the distinctive characteristics of the horizontal front facade . Defining architectural features of this house type include :
• Slightly higher-pitched , vertically oriented , side-gabled , hipped , or cross-gabled rooflines ;
• Minimal ornament ;
• Minimized entry porch ;
• Attached one-car garage ;
• Wood-frame construction ;
• One-story heights ;
• Low-pitched roof with slightly overhanging eaves ;
• Single-hung windows ; and
• Exterior walls clad with wood siding or brick veneer .
The house at 1510 Glen Oaks Drive in Plaza Terrace retains the one-story rectangular form with attached garage , but incorporates an offset front entry gable and vertical brick veneer .
