I’m Steve Setka, shipping ninja and global
logistics consultant with InExpress Winnipeg.
I’m an underdog, grinder and seeker of the
uncomfortable, which is one of the main reasons
for my participation in this event. With an intense
desire for greatness, my fundraising efforts,
training mentality, work ethic and steel-cut
mentality were a significant driving force for the
success I felt throughout this entire process.
With a passion for sports and travel, I’m an athlete
in the development program of the Canadian
National Men’s Australian football team.
Why did you join Fight for Charity?
To get in great shape for the first Team Canada Aussie Rules training camp. I’ve always wanted to
learn to compete in combat sports. Also, I joined to be uncomfortable in a new setting, fighting in
front of 1,200 people, and to motivate myself throughout the winter months.
What is your biggest accomplishment?
Travelling the world for two years throughout Australia, New Zealand and Asia.
What would people be most surprised to learn about you?
I have a significant desire to adopt a child within the next 10 years. Specifically, I’d like to adopt a
child from an African country as I am curious about, interested in and enjoy African culture.
What is your history with boxing?
Before this fight, I’ve only raised my fists one time and that was at the high school football field.
Other than that, I’ve never boxed or really competed in combat sports.
Once my fight is done, I’d like:
To consider myself grateful to have had such a great opportunity, and spend the evening with my
girlfriend, friends and family. I plan to retire a career 1-0 fighter.
Favourite TV show: South Park and Trailer Park Boys. Both shows have roots or creation in Canada
and great Canadian culture.
Favourite movie: The Die Hard Series
Favourite sport: Too many to choose. Likely AFL (Aussie Rules Football), hockey and golf.
Favourite quote: “Thoughts become things, choose them wisely.” – Mike Dooley
Favourite travel destination: Indonesia. I talk about my experiences there on a motorbike all the
time. My girlfriend can vouch for that.
Who would play you in a movie? Daniel Tosh 2.0 because I look and act like him.
