Interview by S. Haseeb Hussain Shah

Why are you in this profession?
Mohammed Ali works as a Male Receptionist and Secretary at FairClaims Accident Management Ltd( Coventry)
This was the only job opportunity available to me. Therefore I decided to work with this company as a receptionist. Don’ t you think that a woman is better for a receptionist job role?
In my opinion, these days it does not matter what job you do. Anyone can do any job as long as they have skills to do it regardless of gender.
In your opinion, do you think that these days there are still some Jobs that are gender specific?
I think that now days gender doesn’ t matters as long as person has required skills or abilities to do the job however for some jobs such as baby sitting females are preferred overt male. It is up to the company management whether they require male or female for specific tasks.
Have you faced any problem while working?
There is no as such problem relating to work but as in current economic unrest many people are unemployed, and still many applications are received for working at this position most them are by females. I have to work extra hard and carefully in order to keep my job secure. At any point during job did you felt that this is not the appropriate role for you? Last month I visited a client with my supervisor, after finishing the meeting with her client was surprised with my job role and clearly expressed that this position in the office should be designated to female. Part from this sometimes when so many calls are received I get fed up as I am not used to talking to much over the phone this sometimes makes me feel that this is not appropriate job for me. As you are currently working as a receptionist and a secretary, how do you manage doing both things at
the same time? Both the things require similar work moreover we don’ t have too much work load therefore it is easily manageable for me doing both things at the same time.
