This course is aimed at those who have an interest in following a career in building services and focuses on introductory practical and theoretical units in the specific areas of plumbing and domestic electrical installation .
Entry Requirements
Evidence of good attendance and timekeeping from school , college or the workplace is necessary , as is one of the following :
Four National 4s including Maths and English
Successful completion of the School College Partnership course Skills for Work : Construction Craft ( Fife schools only ) plus two National 4s in English and Maths

This qualification is aimed at new entrants into the gas industry who wish to be trained in the skills and knowledge associated with basic and complex gas systems . This includes the routine maintenance , reactive maintenance , and commissioning and de-commissioning of gas appliances in a variety of work environments .
Entry Requirements
Previous industry experience in either the electrical , mechanical , or industrial field is essential .
Please note acceptance on the program is dependent on the availability of a suitable work placement .

Gas Foundation Training and Assessment

You will be required to complete a full working portfolio , which contains a mix of college study and assessment with on the job work experience using local companies to provide the vital elements required to become an engineer .
There will be 12 weeks of college covering core subjects and practical elements , which will prepare you for the final competency ACS exams once the portfolio has been completed . You will attend college on a minimum of 4 days per week and will be required to maintain studies on your own time out with college days .
Entry Requirements
A reasonable level of education in numeracy , communications , experience from previous employment would be beneficial but not essential .
