This course has been specifically designed for anyone who wishes to begin a career in the automotive , mechanical , electrical , fabrication and welding , or manufacturing engineering industries . You will undertake a variety of mechanical and automotive vehicle maintenance skills , to assist you to find the area that is right for you . You will develop your practical skills and knowledge with a hands-on approach throughout .
Entry Requirements
Three National 3s and in Maths , English , and a Technology subject with at least one of these areas at National 4 or at least an indication of ability to work at National 4 level )

This course is aimed at those who wish to work in the automotive , mechanical , electrical , fabrication and welding , or manufacturing engineering industries and focuses on improving broadbased practical skills and knowledge with a hands-on approach throughout .
You will gain both the SQA Engineering Skills and the EAL Level 1 Engineering and Technology qualifications . These are pre-apprenticeship qualifications where you will gain a wide range of practical experience with some examples of the situations you could face in an industry role . The course is open to both school leavers and those looking to change or further their careers .

You may be required to take part in an informal conversation as part of the application process . This group / individual conversation may be an information session , a portfolio discussion , or a skills based exercise .

If you are able to demonstrate a keen interest in engineering , have good discipline and the ability to develop your practical engineering skills , you may also be considered
