The HNC Media and Communication qualification is intended for those wishing to pursue an exciting career by developing a creative thinking and practical skillset that can be used in a broad range of media production and communication roles . It combines academic study and practical learning to reflect the demands of the Media and other industries . The HNC will also enhance your employment prospects in the wider creative and communication economy . You can progress to the HND Media and Communication at our Glenrothes Campus and then onto our BA ( Hons .) Creative Enterprise .
Entry Requirements
One of the following :
Foundation Apprenticeship : Creative and Digital Media SCQF Level 6 plus a National 5 at Grade C or above in English
One Higher at Grade C or above ideally from English , History , Politics ( or 1 H not including English with Nat 5 English at Grade C )
National Certificate : Creative Industries : Broadcast Media SCQF Level 6
National Certificate : Photography SCQF Level 6

PLUS :
You will be required to demonstrate a passion for media content generation , communication e . g . writing , podcasting or vlogging as well as evidence of creativity and / or associated technical production skills . A short show-reel or online portfolio showing creative and or communication skills would be an advantage
You may be required to take part in an informal conversation as part of the application process . This group / individual conversation may be an information session , a portfolio discussion , or a skills-based exercise

HNC : Photography

This is a highly practical course where your creative photographic techniques will develop along with your technical and practical skillsets . Working in our dedicated photography studios and on location , you will acquire skills that are essential for professional / commercial success . Working on your own and with others on a variety of challenging photography briefs will prepare you well for employment or self-employment . This course also prepares you for progression to a degree at university . We will support you to become confident in how to manage your time , resources and photographic workflow and encourage you to explore a wide range of photographic techniques .
Entry Requirements
A digital portfolio of photography consisting of 12-20 Images over a range of subjects and styles e . g . a PDF file plus either one of the following :
1 Higher at Grade C or above , ideally from Photography , Art & Design or English plus two National 5s at Grade C or above .
National Certificate : Photography SCQF Level 6
Other relevant qualifications and a Portfolio demonstrating knowledge , skills and experience .
