This introductory course provides a dynamic starting point for a career in fashion . From the outset , you are encouraged to develop an individual approach to garment design and garment manufacture , while working within a team to master the basic principles of fashion design , fashion merchandising , pattern and garment production .
Entry Requirements
One of the following :
Four National 4s including English
SVQ : Design or three relevant units at SCQF Level 4
Certificate : Art and Design
Another related and relevant course at SCQF Level 4
Relevant industry experience and / or other qualifications will be considered on an individual basis , in which case a design portfolio that shows creative ability will be required

Developed to meet the demands of employers , this HND provides advanced study for those with a relevant qualification , Highers , or practical experience . Your creativity will thrive on this course as you learn about fashion design , textile and market research , pattern cutting , garment manufacture , fashion promotion , merchandising , and selling .

Year 1 :
One of the following :
One Higher at Grade C or above
National Certificate : Fashion Design and Manufacture SCQF Level 6
National Certificate : Art and Design SCQF Level 6
Another appropriate course at SCQF Level 5 or 6
In addition , internal applicants will also require a positive Internal Learner Reference ( ILR ). Students will also be considered on an individual basis based on a portfolio of fashion related work and / or relevant fashion , retail , business experience .

Jewellery
National Certificate : Jewellery
SCQF Level 6

This course is suitable for those with a recognised ability in art and / or design who wish to study a jewellery specialism . It provides you with a strong foundation in the design and manufacture of contemporary jewellery . You will learn a range of techniques related to jewellery design and will develop workshop skills using a wide range of precious and non-precious materials . You will be introduced to 3D design using 3D software , haptic control , and 3D printing .
Entry Requirements
In addition to a portfolio of work , you must possess one of the following :
Two National 5s at Grade C or above , one of which is English
Intermediate Certificate : Art and Design Portfolio
Another appropriate creative course at SCQF Level 5
Mature students will be considered on an individual basis based on a portfolio of art and design work
