On this course you will study three National 5 courses ( or a mix of National 5 and Highers ). You can stop at the end of the first year , but most students continue to the second year , where you can move onto our Level 6 Pathway course to study Highers . This will allow you to apply for HNCs or HNDs and move on to a university degree , if that is your goal .

Four National 4s in relevant subjects ( such as English , Maths , History , Modern Studies , RMPS , Geography , Languages )
Certificate : Start Here for Qualifications
Successful completion of other relevant National 4 courses ( for example , one that contained a fair bit of reading and writing )

The Pathway to Vocational Courses offers a blend of opportunities to gain National 5 qualifications , and develop insight into the skills needed for a wide range of College National Certificate or National Qualifications courses . The programme lets you study a wide range of subjects to allow you to try out different subjects .

Scottish Wider Access Programmes ( SWAP ) courses are specifically designed for those who have left formal education and , after a period away , want to return and progress to Higher Education . Successful completion can lead you to a guaranteed place on an HNC , HND , or degree course at college or university in the SWAP – East network .
Entry Requirements
No formal entry requirements
Entry is by informal discussion where you will be asked to demonstrate that you have the relevant life skills to successfully complete the SWAP course
Evidence of life skills may include level of maturity and experience of skills related to the potential choice of degree subject , including paid employment or volunteering and awareness of subject choice
Please note that school leavers cannot apply for SWAP courses .
