The aim of this course is to enable those working in a care environment to improve their working practice by developing their skills , knowledge , and understanding of their role in the workplace . This course will allow you to register with the Scottish Social Services Council ( SSSC ).
Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for this course , although you must have an interest in working in an adult health and social care setting
You will also require a PVG check through Disclosure Scotland in order to go out on the placement ( s ) as part of this course
Some level of computer literacy is required to access this course

This course gives you an introduction to health and social care professions and the career paths available in these areas . It allows you to begin your studies at Level 6 on a generic programme studying subjects such as care and psychology .

Entry is by informal discussion where you will be asked to demonstrate that you have the relevant life skills to successfully complete the SWAP course
Evidence of life skills may include level of maturity and experience of skills related to the potential choice of degree subject , including paid employment or volunteering and awareness of subject choice

This course offers you an opportunity to learn about the health and social care professions and the career paths that are available in these areas . It allows you to begin your studies at SCQF Level 6 on a generic programme working towards Highers in care and psychology .

One of the following :
Four National 5s at Grade A or B , including English
Intermediate Certificate : Health and Social Care
Relevant industrial experience and / or other qualifications will be considered on an individual basis
