This course is ideal if you are interested in progressing to University or developing a high level of knowledge and skills in the area of Mechanical Engineering to make you work-ready for a career in this industry . You will also have the opportunity to study advanced units in Mathematics .
Entry Requirements
One of the following :
Two Highers at Grade C or above , one of which must be Maths with the other coming from Physics or Engineering Science ( Grade D will be considered for exceptional candidates )
Foundation Apprenticeship : Engineering SCQF Level 6
National Certificate : Mechanical Engineering SCQF Level 6 ( including Maths : Tech 2 )
Another relevant course at SCQF Level 6 ( incorporating Maths : Tech 1 and 2 ) accompanied by a good academic reference recommending articulation to a higher level
Relevant industry experience and / or other qualifications will be considered on an individual basis

This distance learning course is for anyone who wishes to start a career in engineering or who may already be employed currently in the industry and would like to attain an internationally recognised engineering qualification . You will carry out mathematical solutions and apply engineering theory to a multitude of mechanical and electrical engineering problems and understand the parameters in which engineering systems operate .

One of the following :
Two Highers : One at Grade C or above in Physics , Chemistry or Technological Studies and Higher Maths at Grade B or above
Foundation Apprenticeship : Engineering SCQF Level 6
National Certificate : Mechanical Engineering ( including SWAP Access to Engineering )
Another relevant engineering course at SCQF Level 6 ( incorporating Maths Tech 1 and 2 ) accompanied with a good academic reference recommending articulation to a higher level
Industrial experience and / or other qualifications will also be considered

This highly sought after advanced level course offers you the opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge of commonly used and specialist welding processes and inspection techniques used within the oil , petro-chemical , and nuclear industries .

One Higher at Grade C or above plus two National 5s at Grade C or above , ideally in Maths , a Science , or a Technology subject

National Certificate : Fabrication and Welding Engineering SCQF Level 5 with a good academic reference recommending articulation to a higher level
