Progressing from college to university Did you know? Articulation offers you the more affordable option of studying the first two years or all of your degree locally in Fife. Fife College offers defined routes to degree programmes in partnership with a wide range of universities across Scotland and the UK. You will probably see this referred to as an Articulation Route. An articulation route is a pathway between a full-time HN course such as an HNC or HND and a degree course, which has been formally agreed between the College and a university. These routes are reviewed annually by each university and the College to make sure that the content of your HN course aligns to the content of the first year (or first two years) of your chosen degree to ensure a smooth transition to degree study. If an articulation route is in place, it means that you can get direct entry into a degree; HNC to year 2 and HND to year 3. This ensures that you can continue to move forward with your studies without repeating material and, if you continue to study in Scotland, you can finish your Ordinary degree in three years or Honours degree in four years, just as you would have done if you had gone straight to university. Alternatively, you can opt to study elsewhere in the UK and get an Honours degree in three years – but course fees will apply. But, if you’d rather continue to study for your degree locally, the College also offers a range of degree courses which are delivered entirely on Fife College campuses. See page 13 for more information. Glossary: Articulation Route: A pathway between a full-time HN course at college (such as an HNC or HND) and a degree course at university, which has been formally agreed between the College and a partner university. Associate student programme: A scheme offered by some of our partner universities, which would allow you to access certain benefits as an Associate Student of the university, while you are still studying for your HNC or HND at Fife College.
