os “Ticos” tuvieron una notable racha
de participaciones en las Copas Mundiales Sub-17 de la FIFA. Entre 2001 y
2007 accedieron a todas las ediciones de
manera consecutiva, logrando siempre pasar la fase de grupos, aunque nunca más
allá de los cuartos de final. El 2001, su verdugo fue Burkina Faso; el 2003, Colombia;
el 2005, México y el 2007, Argentina.
La racha acabó el 2009, cuando se fue en
primera ronda, dando paso a un período
de ausencia que se corta en Chile 2015,
donde vuelve a la cita mundialista.
El cuadro costarricense logró su clasificación luego de ser tercero en su grupo, lo
que significó tener que jugar un playoff
para asegurar su paso. En aquel compromiso, venció a Canadá por 3-1.
En esta Copa del Mundo, Costa Rica quiere hacer historia y superar, por fin, la barrera de los cuartos de final, para empezar a
soñar con su primera conquista.

Cups. Between 2001 and 2007 they accessed all the editions consecutively, always
managing to pass the group stage, but ne ver

The streak ended in 2009, when they left in
the first round, giving way to a period of absence that is cut in Chile 2015, where they
return to the World meeting.
The Costa Rican team achieved their qualification after being third in their group, which
meant having to play a duel to ensure their
passage. In that commitment, they beat Canada 3-1.
In this World Cup, Costa Rica wants to make
history and overcome, at last, the barrier of
the quarterfinals, to start dreaming about
their first conquest.
