Syli Cadet” han participado en una
Copa Mundial Sub-17 de la FIFA, teniendo el privilegio de ser, junto a Nigeria y el
Congo, los primeros equipos africanos en
ser parte de ésta competencia.
En su debut, en China 1985, los guineanos tuvieron una destacada actuación, logrando el cuarto puesto, que es su mejor
participación hasta el momento. En 1989,
estuvieron en cuartos de final, mientras
que en 1995, pese al triunfo contra Portugal, no lograron avanzar a la siguiente
fase.
Guinea clasificó tras obtener el tercer
puesto en el Campeonato Africano, puesto que aseguró luego de vencer a Nigeria,
el favorito de siempre en esta categoría.
Esta excelente campaña motivó que en el
país se crearan muchas esperanzas para
este torneo, aunque uno de los aspectos
a mejorar para ser protagonistas, será la
llegada al gol.

World Cup, having the privilege of being, together with Nigeria and Congo, the first African teams to participate in this competition.
In their debut, in China 1985, Guineans had
an outstanding performance, achieving the
fourth place, which is their best participation
so far. In 1989, they were in the quarterfinals,
while 1995, despite the win against Portugal;
they failed to pass to the next phase.
Guinea qualified after achieving the third
place in the African Championship, spot it
gained after beating Nigeria, the perennial favourite in this category. This excellent
campaign created many hopes for this tournament in the country, although one of the
aspects to improve to become leading team
will be the arrival of the goal.
