Field Installation and Service Manual SECTION 1- INSTALLATION Cleaning, Caulking and Capping Illustrated Method Sheet 122 Step 1 Cleaning 1.1 Clean out the interiors of the cabinet boxes first. Wipe out any dust, debris or attached dirt. Use a damp cloth to remove any stubborn dirt. Use acetone to remove any adhesive residue, overspray or any pencil or pen marks that do not remove easily with just water. 1.2 Use colored wax to fill any visible nail holes on the inside of the cabinetry. Wipe away excess. Step 2 Caulking 2.1 Caulking can be required both inside and outside of the cabinet box. Cleaning, Caulking and Caping should be per- formed before replacing shelves or doors. At this point the cabinets are still open, and access to their insides and backs are still relatively easy. On the inside of the box, caulk any gap larger than 1/16” between cabinet parts. Only caulk the offending joint and do not allow any caulking to spill or smear onto an adjacent joint if it does not need to be caulked. Wipe away all excess caulking with a damp cloth. ©2017 PCS Professional Cabinet Solutions. All Rights Reserved. Section 1: IMS 122 2
