Installing Heat Defl ectors

Step 1
Rigid Thermal Foil (also
referred to as RTF or
Thermofoil) is an excel-
lent solution for a cabinet
fi nish. It is very durable,
easily cleans and will
maintain its looks for
many years of service
with no maintenance
required other than
cleaning.
Layout

Heat Defl ectors are 1/2” wide and, when specifi ed, are installed to both sides
of a stove opening.
This adds 1” to the stove appliance space required at time of install and causes the
opening to be unconventional.
Allow for this discrepancy when aligning the stove opening with other constraining
conditions, such as tall cabinets and hood openings.
As the name implies,
the product is applied to
cabinet parts through a
process which utilizes
high heat. If the installed
material is exposed to
extraordinary high heat
such as close proximity
to some built in ovens
during a self cleaning
cycle, the material can be
damaged.
Adding Heat Defl ectors
can prevent this condition
and ensure the life of the
fi nish.
Installing Heat Defl ec-
tors is very simple. The
main challenge is al-
lowing for the space at
the time of layout. Since
these defl ectors are not
used in all kitchens, it’s
a small detail that can
cause a large amount of
rework if overlooked.
