Predrill and countersink clearance holes for screws in
the pieces to be used for decreasing the opening width.
Make sure that the predrilled clearance holes allow the screw
to travel freely without grabbing.
Pre-color the mating edges if the seam will be visible outside of
the appliance trim.

Select screws that will reach
1/2” to 3/4” into the frame, add glue
and screw the additional material to the
frame.
Step 2
Layout and Prepare the Cabinet Opening
2.1 The Oven
Frames will mount to the
cabinet through cleats
that will be installed in
the cabinet around the
oven opening.
Cut this cleating to fi t the
height of the opening
from 5/8” thick board at a
minimum of 3/4” wide.
Pre-drill and countersink
clearance holes in this
cleating every 8” to 12”
along its face (the side
that is 3/4” wide).
