SECTION 1 - INSTALLATION
Installing
Crown Molding
Illustrated Method Sheet 108
Crown Molding is unique from other types of molding and trim since it installs in a manner
that projects up and out from a surface. This condition requires increased care from the
installer to ensure a quality installation.
As with many processes,
there may be several
different ways to cut and
apply molding. We have
found that the following
methods are the most
effi cient for completing a
high quality installation
of Crown Molding on our
cabinets.
The Rise of Crown Molding is the dimension that it
will cover vertically when installed.
Projection is the dimension that Crown Molding will
protrude from the face of the location it is installed.

Rise
Heel and Toe of a Mitered Cut
When molding is cut diagonally,
its important to identify the long or
short parts of the stick.
The part of the cut that is greater
than 90 degrees is the Heel.
The part smaller than 90 degrees
is the Toe.
