Locate the exact placement of each cabinet and appliance opening. This will require some measure-
ments, calculations and decisions. Use the following guidelines.
a. Determine the actual available wall dimension. This dimension often varies from the
plan dimension.
b. Calculate the total length of the cabinets that will be installed along that wall.
Starting with the base, or base and tall cabinets, add the length of all the cabinets along a
wall including appliance openings, panel widths and cabinet depths if the run involves an
inside corner.
c. Subtract the “Sum of the Base Cabinet Dimensions” from the dimension of the
“Actual Available Wall Space”. The Result is the space available for fi llers and / or
reveals.
d. Decide what constraints, if any, will determine how the fi ller or reveal
dimensions are to be handled.
Such as requirements to :
- Center a cabinet run on a wall
- Provide equal reveals around windows or door openings
- Provide minimum fi ller widths for inside corners or deep appliances
