Oreobates amarakaeri Oreobates amarakaeri Scientific synonyms/Sinónimos científicos: Common names/Nombres comunes: Amarakaeri’s big-headed frog** / Rana cabezona amarakaeri** Description: This frog has a brown dorsum with low warts, a W-shaped black mark and some black spotting. It presents lipbars and transverse dark bands on the limbs. The groin, ventral surfaces of the limbs and belly are orange. The throat is grey with white spots. The iris is golden with fine black reticulations and a black notch under the pupil. Similar species: Oreobates quixensis and O. granulosus are larger, stockier and more warty. Oreobates cruralis is not warty, has the toe pads from Finger III and IV expanded and lacks the orange ventral colouration. Habitat and ecology: Very little is known about this recently described species. It is a nocturnal species that inhabits primary montane forests
