Description: This tiny frog is light brown on top with some
darker markings. The flanks and sides of the head are black. It
has two suprainguinal dark spots. The limbs have transverse
bands. The venter is black with a fine white mottling. The iris
is golden with black reticulations and a median horizontal
black streak.
Descripción: Esta rana diminuta es marrón claro por arriba con
algunas marcas oscuras. Los flancos y los lados de la cabeza
son negros. Presenta dos puntos negros suprainguinales. Las
patas tienen barras transversales. El vientre es negro moteado
finamente de blanco. El iris es dorado con reticulado negro y
una banda horizontal negra atravesándolo.
Similar species: Noblella myrmecoides is almost identical;
refer to its account for more information on the identification.
Noblella pygmaea lives in high altitude areas, it lacks the
suprainguinal black spots and has another general pattern of
colouration.

Habitat and ecology: Virtually nothing is known about this
cryptic species. It appears to be a foothill and montane
species, perhaps restricted to the Kosñipata valley. It has
been found very close to ant nests, which could suggest that
is an ant specialist as N. myrmecoides.

esta especie críptica. Parece ser una especie montana y de
piedemonte, quizás restringida al valle de Kosñipata. Se ha
encontrado muy cerca de hormigueros, lo que podría sugerir
ques es una especialista de hormigas como N. myrmecoides.
At the MLC: It has been found within the leaf litter in the
higher areas of the Piñi Piñi range, between 1000 and 1200
m asl. It is a common species in its habitat.

mayor altitud de la cordillera del Piñi Piñi, entre los 1000 y los
1200 msnm. Es una especie común en su hábitat.
