Description : This distinctive large species has a dark green dorsum with scattered grayish flecks . The venter is bright orangy yellow . The edges of the limbs a lips show conspicuous fringes . The flanks are the same colour as the venter and have vertical brown bars . The inside side of the limbs is creamy white with thin green transverse bands . It has a calcar in the heel . The toes are 2 / 3 webbed , while the fingers are 1 / 3 webbed . The iris is gray with fine black reticulations and the pupil is vertical .
Similar species : Difficult to confuse with other species . Phyllomedusa species lack fringes in lips and limbs , they are usually a lighter green dorsum and do not have bright orangy yellow venters .
Habitat and ecology : This nocturnal and canopy dweller frog inhabits both in terra firma and varzea primary forests . They come down from the canopy during breeding time , which occurs sporadically after heavy rains throughout the year . Females lay between 2 and 21 eggs in vegetation overhanging cavities filled with water in dead trunks , alive trees or butress roots .

Descripción : Esta especie grande y característica tiene un dorso de color verde oscuro con motas grises esparcidas irregularmente . El vientre es de color amarillo anaranjado vivo . Los bordes de las patas y labio muestran un reborde evidente . Los flancos son del mismo color que el vientre y está cruzado por barras verticales marrones . El lado interior de las patas es blanco cremosa con bandas transversales verdes delgadas . Los dedos traseros están palmeados en 2 / 3 , mientras que los delanteros lo están en 1 / 3 . El iris es gris con reticulaciones finas negras y la pupila es vertical .
Especies similares : Difícil de confundir . Las especies de Phyllomedusa no tienen los rebordes en las patas y labios , su verde suele ser más claro y no tienen vientres de color amarillo anaranjado intenso .
Hábitat y ecología : Esta rana nocturna y habitante del dosel puede ser encontrada en bosques primarios de varzea y terra firma . Bajan del dosel durante los períodos de reproducción que ocurren de manera esporádica tras fuertes lluvias durante todo el año . Las hembras ponen entre 2 y 21 huevos en vegetación que cuelga sobre cavidades llenas de agua en árboles vivos , troncos muertos o raíces tablares .
