Description: This tiny frog has an orangey brown dorsum.
There is a lateral black stripe that starts very narrow on the
snout and gets wider towards the groin, whilst the lower part
of the flanks are white. Some individuals present faint lighter
dorsolateral stripes. The hind limbs are gray with dark brown
transverse bands and the venter is yellowish. The iris is pale
copper with fine black reticulations.
Similar species: Allobates trilineatus is very similar but has a
darker patterned dorsum with more prominent dorsolateral
stripes, always with a narrow middorsal stripe and toe III is
swollen in males.
Habitat and ecology: Very little is known about this species.
Apparently its altitudinal ranges goes from 250 to 550 m asl
and it is thought to breed in water. Its taxonomic validity is
questionable (Salas, 2004).
At the MLC: It has been found in partially cleared and now
regenerating forest and in completely cleared and now
regenerating forest. Where found is fairly abundant.

Descripción: Esta diminuta rana tiene un dorso marrón
anaranjado. Tiene una banda lateral negra que empieza
muy estrecha en el hocico y se va ensanchando hacia la
ingle, mientras que la parte baja de los flancos es blanca.
Algunos individuos muestran bandas dorsolaterales claras
poco evidentes. Las patas traseras son grises con bandas
transversales marrón oscuro y el vientre es amarillo. El iris es
cobre pálido con un reticulado fino negro.
Especies similares: Allobates trilineatus es muy parecido pero
tiene un patrón dorsal más oscuro con bandas dorsolaterales
más prominentes, siempre con una banda fina mediodorsal y
el dedo trasero III está hinchado en machos.
Hábitat y ecología: Muy poco se conoce acerca de esta
especie. Aparentemente su rango altitudinal va de 250 a
550 msnm y se cree que se reproduce en el agua. Su validez
taxonómica es cuestionable (Salas, 2004).
En el MLC: Se ha encontrado en áreas de bosque
completamente y parcialmente aclarado y ahora en
regeneración. Donde se encuentra es bastante abundante.
