Description : The dorsal coloration is olive to dark green with numerous scattered white spots . The skin on the dorsum is smooth . The cheeks are bluish . The limbs have white frilled outer edges . The belly is greenish white and fairly transparent . The throat is bluish . The webbing in the toes is three quarters full and orange in coloration . The iris is silver with fine brown reticulations .
Similar species : Hypsiboas cinerascens is also completely green with yellow spots , but its dorsum skin is granular , it has a different body shape , the iris is creamy orange with a blue ring rimming and it lacks the orange coloration in the toe webbing . Glass frogs are substantially smaller and more slender .
Habitat and ecology : This arboreal frog lives in rocky mountain streams where males call all year round . Its altitudinal range is from 410 to 2190 m asl . It is not known to occur in secondary forests .
At the MLC : It has been found in three streams in the low disturbance forest area . Males have been found calling especially during April and May , but also during the whole dry season . The individuals found at the MLC are thought to be a different but affiliated species to the nominal H . phyllognathus .

Descripción : La coloración dorsal varía de oliva a verde oscuro con numerosos puntos blancos dispersos . La piel del dorso es lisa . Las mejillas son azuladas . Las extremidades tienen volantes blancos en los margenes externos . La tripa es blanca verdusca y bastante transparente . La garganta es azulada . Los dedos traseros están palmeados en tres cuartos y la membrana es naranja . El iris es plateado con finas reticulaciones marrones .
Especies similares : Hypsiboas cinerascens es también completamente verde con puntos amarillos , pero la piel del dorso es granular , tiene una forma corporal diferente , el iris es naranja cremosa con un anillo azul como borde y no tienen naranja en la membrana de los dedos traseros . Las ranas de cristal son sensiblemente más pequeñas y más esbeltas .
Hábitat y ecología : Esta especie arbórea vive en quebradas rocosas de montaña donde los machos cantan todo el año . Su rango altitudinal va de los 410 a los 2190 msnm . No se ha registrado en bosques secundarios .
En el MLC : Se ha encontrado en tres quebradas en las áreas de bosque poco alterado . Se han encontrado machos llamando especialmente durante Abril y Mayo , pero también durante toda la temporada seca . Los individuos encontrados en el MLC se cree que son una especie diferente pero afiliada a H . phyllognathus .
