Walmart acquires Parcel
Walmart has acquired Parcel, a technology-based, same-day and lastmile delivery company based in New York that specialises in perishable and non-perishable delivery to customers in New York City.
As a 24 / 7 operation that delivers packages the same-day, overnight and in scheduled two-hour windows, Parcel uses routing algorithms, a fleet of leased vehicles, and a professional, employee-based workforce, to quickly sort, load and deliver packages to customers.

Detego unveils new mobile solution for retailers

The mobile solution gives near hundred per cent inventory accuracy, so there are fewer gaps on the shelves and no lost sales from missing sizes.
Aptos completes acquisition of TXT Retail
Aptos, Inc., a market leader in retail technology solutions, has announced that it has completed its acquisition of TXT Retail, the leading global provider of end-to-end merchandise lifecycle management( MLM) solutions for the apparel, luxury, specialty and general retail sectors. Going forward, TXT Retail
will be known as‘ TXT Retail, an Aptos Company’.

UKFT with M & S rolls out manufacturing masterclasses
The UK Fashion and Textile Association( UKFT) with the support of Marks and Spencer( M & S) has rolled out a series of masterclasses on manufacturing at five UK universities as part of the‘ Made It’ campaign. The classes are designed to give students understanding of sourcing, production and the business considerations of a UK-based manufacturing strategy.
The selected universities offer design courses across a range of product types including textiles, menswear, womenswear, knitwear and sportswear. The tailored masterclasses will be delivered by UK production and sourcing expert Daliah Simble at the University of Leeds, University of Salford, University of Westminster, Nottingham Trent University and Falmouth University.

The masterclass students will have the opportunity to use what they learn to design, develop and produce UK made look. Based on the designs submitted, selected students from each participating university will receive financial support from M & S and industry introductions and mentoring throughout the process from UKFT experts and manufacturers.
4 LCF students bag Kering Award for Sustainable Fashion

The 2017 Kering Award for Sustainable Fashion has been bagged by Laure Fernandez and Charlie Wilkinson for Gucci and Dianjen Lin and Jennifer Kusowski for Stella McCartney in a competition involving 100 London College of Fashion( LCF) students.
Laure Fernandez created a new method of designing and printing patterns, using microbial pigments, while Dianjen Lin undertook research into producing clothing that absorbs carbon dioxide. Both will receive a € 10,000 grant to continue their research.
