Alpha ProTech joins hands with JX Nippon ANCI
Alpha ProTech Engineered Products has signed an exclusive contract with JX Nippon ANCI, a manufacturer and seller of nonwoven mesh fabrics, to launch REX Wrap Fortis House Wraps with JX ALTA 360 º Drainage Technology. With its oneof-a-kind construction, REX Wrap Fortis with JX ALTA 360 º Drainage Technology uniquely enables the drainage of water in every direction to protect buildings from the elements exponentially better than a traditional housewrap while decreasing job site material waste, simplifying installation to reduce labour and carrying fewer products.
The new product line will be marketed by APT and JX Nippon ANCI. The exclusive agreement covers North America, parts of the Caribbean and Belize through 2020, as well as automatic extensions for two-year periods provided that certain sales forecast are attained.

Kerala to create‘ Kerala coir’ brand, set up marketing firm
Indian state Kerala has chalked out a five-year plan to create and promote a‘ Kerala coir’ brand, set up a marketing firm to push traditional as well as modern products in the domestic and global markets and co-brand coir, according to state finance minister TM Thomas Issac. The ₹ 1,310-crore plan will be implemented this fiscal with private sector help.
Around ₹ 484 crore will be dedicated for marketing. The state coir department has signed a memorandum of understanding with 700 village panchayats( local governing bodies) for using coir-geotextiles for conservation of soil and water.

US firm Supreme Corporation launches new Volt smart yarns
Hickory, North Carolina-based hightech textile manufacturer Supreme
Corporation has claimed to have introduced Volt smart yarns, a highly conductive yarn for advanced smart fabrics. Capable of previously unattainable high levels of conductivity on the order of 1.9 ohms per metre, each such yarn contains up to four wires the diameter of a human hair.
Engineered for use with commercial sewing machines, VOLT smart yarns can be woven or knitted into fabrics that heat, control switches and volume, interact with wireless technology and that can become sensors for impact and touch.
PolyQuest, Straterra Holdings form Fiber Innovators
PolyQuest and Straterra Holdings have established a joint venture Fiber Innovators International that has acquired the former DuraFiber Technologies facility in Grover, North Carolina. The facility produces medium and high tenacity industrial polyester filament threads used in high quality applications in North America.
The Grover plant’ s filament capacity is used to supply both domestic and international customers. The investment by PolyQuest and Straterra will provide stability and supply continuity to the existing customer base as well as long term employees at the Grover facility.
LyondellBasell’ s new PP compounding plant starts

LyondellBasell, a plastics, chemicals and refining company, has announced start of a new polypropylene( PP) compounding plant in Dalian, China. This is the company’ s third facility in China, strategically located to serve the region’ s growing automotive market.
Currently in China, LyondellBasell operates PP compounding plants in Suzhou and Guangzhou. The addition of the 20 kilotonne per year Dalian plant allows the company’ s further expansion into the strategically important North China region which is home to a number of major automobile manufacturers including BMW, Daimler, GM, Volkswagen, Audi, Nissan and Chery.

Teijin Aramid introduces new super wicking fabric
Teijin Aramid has introduced Teijinconex Coolnex super wicking fabric, a lighter, softer and more comfortable flame resistant fabric. The outstanding feature of this new fabric is a quick dry absorption of perspiration without losing its flame resistance. The innovation will provide flame resistant protection while making work wear more comfortable.
“ Designed to breathe, the fabric allows the sweat to move from the body to outside, producing a cotton like feel. The moisture wicking capability outperforms competing fabrics like cotton, viscose or traditional aramid fabrics,” the Netherlands based company said in a press release.
Kappler designs AntiFog Expanded-View Visor
Protective apparel manufacturer Kappler has designed AntiFog Expanded-View Visor which means no more fogged-up face visors for gas-tight suit wearers. The patent-pending visor technology is being combined with another key‘ see better, work safer’ improvement: A large, expanded-view visor which significantly increases the

suit wearer’ s field of vision with 17 per cent more visor surface area. The AntiFog Expanded-View Visor is being incorporated as a standard feature on all Kappler gas-tight suits made with Zytron and Frontline fabrics, including NFPA-certified styles.
