Dear Fi Asia 2018 participants,
On behalf of the Southeast Asian Food & Agricultural Science & Technology (SEAFAST) Center of Bogor Agricultural
University (IPB), I am pleased to welcome you to Fi Asia 2018, an event that will continue to promote the exchange
of scientific knowledge, and encourage cooperation, not just between food scientists, but also all stakeholders
along the food value chains.
SEAFAST Center is proud to maintain its full support for Fi Asia. I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank
UBM for again organising Fi Asia, the region’s premier expo for the ingredients industries of foods and beverages
in Jakarta.
Ladies and gentlemen, Fi Asia 2018 is indeed an important event for SEAFAST Center, as it is consistent with our
mission to become a centre of partnership, to bring together universities, government bodies, donors and business
organisations to focus on the improvement of food science and technology issues at national and regional level.
I am confident that this important event will foster valuable ongoing partnerships between local, regional and
international members of the food and beverage industries. Working together, we can achieve our vision of
improved nutrition and health, an important component to our nation’s food security strategies.
As such, SEAFAST Center is honoured to again be one of the organizers for the PATPI-SEAFAST International
Conference “Science-Based Ingredients: The Future for Food in Asia” This conference is dedicated as a platform
for sharing information between various stakeholders. It is of importance as the innovations and developments in
food technology, processing and ingredients are expected to fulfil the demands of the ever-growing global
population; seeking food safety and nutritional security.
In addition to a scientific conference that addresses innovations and developments in food science and
technology, SEAFAST Center, Department of Food Science and Technology – IPB, and UBM have co-organized the
Food Product Development Competition (FPDC) 2018 with the theme “Discovering and Developing the Uniqueness
of ASEAN through Local-based Functional Foods and Beverages”, Halal Seminars and Sensory Training Sessions.
SEAFAST Center looks forward to the opportunity of continuing to collaborate with Fi Asia in the future. Finally, I offer
my sincere congratulations to Fi Asia 2018, and I wish you all a successful event.
