AGrisilvicultural system : alley cropping
Forest crops and agricultural crops is arrange in alternate manner.
Bamboo
Pre-planting operation: Demarcation / fencing to be completed at least three months prior to planting.
Weeding: at least 15 days prior to planting
Pit size & treatment: 45 X 45 X 45 cm cubical pits, to be half filled and kept exposed to sun for top soil sterilization for about a month
Planting: Along with the pre monsoon showers/prior to active monsoon the pits are completely filled and planted with one year old planting stock
Spacing: Spacing of 6 X 6m for timber production

Coconut
Function: as windbreaks for reduction of wind speed, increase humidity and reduce water loss from the soil
Planting: at right angles to the prevailing wind, a single line of trees with a spacing of 1.5-2.0 m
In addition to one or two lines of trees, a line of shrubs spaced at approximately 1 m can be planted on the side facing the prevailing wind
Sweet potato, Ginger and Turmeric
Pre-planting operation: Couple of ploughings
Weeding: Especially during initial days, earthing up followed after 2 weeks to 1 month of planting. Once vines grown, vines are automatically suppressed.
Pit-size and planting: Ridges of 25 to 30cm height at 60cm apart; vine cutting with the length of 20 to 30cm buried horizontally with 2 to 3 nodes below soil by leaving the remaining portion of the cutting above the soil
Spacing: 0.5m between single plants, 1m between rows in order to let vines have room to run
