Agroforestry Project? What is it about? On 11 April 2018 (Wednesday) in week 7, student needs to come up with a planning and designing a plan for an agroforestry project. Besides, students are free to choose what type of agroforestry system they want. For instance, agrisilviculture system, agrosilvopastural system, silvopastural system, and other system such as aquaforestry, apiculture and sericulture. Another than that, student also must choose the best plant to be planted at their project. This is very important because need to know whether the type of plant is suitable to the land as it is.
For our group, we choose the system agrosilvopastural. Further to this, the plants to be planted are Neem tree (Azadirachta indica), black pepper (Piper nigrum), cassava (Manihot esculenta) and pineapple (Ananas comosus). The total trees of black pepper, cassava and pineapple is 68 trees per column. While the total column of black pepper, cassava and pineapple is 23 columns. The distance between each crop is 2 meter and the distance between fence and crops is 3 meter. Also, the distance between Neem trees and fence is 4 meter. The objective of this practical are students are able to planning and designing a plan for an agroforestry project and also students know on how to synthesis and propose ways to adapt application of agroforestry system in different landscape.
