The Flash Fraser High School - 34270 Garfield Road. Fraser, Michigan 48026 - Issue 3 - January 2006 The dawn of a new gym; Ramblers come home to play By Josh Whipple ‘07 Flash Staff Reporter After a year and a half of construction delays and unforeseen setbacks the Fraser High School gym reopened Jan. 3. The basketball court was christened with a home stand against Chippewa Valley, and a ribbon cutting ceremony with local dignitaries. “I was proud of my school 30 years ago, and even more proud today,” said City of Fraser Mayor Marilyn Lane. On Jan. 3 the new bleachers were full to the roof with city representatives, school board members, physical education teachers and of course the best fans around, the Fraser community, to commemorate the completion of the floor project. Construction, due to a broken water pipe, has continued for about the last year and a half. During that time we have had no team events or classes held in the gym. “The court was completed last week, for the most part, but we still need to hang a few banners,” said Athletic Director Brad Robinson. Family, friends, and fans filled the new FHS bleachers. In the crowd were Bob and Jan Wilson who love the Fraser sports teams and have gone to the girl’s volleyball tournaments to cheer them on. Also in the crowd was new principal, Dr. D a v e Richards. “It’s good that the students can have gym class and it’s good to be home,” said Richards.
